Invest in Young Readers
Arabic Book A Month believes in promoting literacy for all children. Research shows that if a child does not learn to read by Grade 3, they are behind for life in an often irreversible cycle of poverty, where their economic and educational prospects suffer. Poor educational outcomes are tied to future poverty, unemployment, illness and crime. Therefore, we are dedicated to encouraging reading fluency and early childhood learning.
A recent World Bank report explained,
"The ability to read with comprehension is a fundamental skill that every education system around the world strives to achieve by age 10. Per recent statistics, about 50% of all children in low- and middle-income countries (including Egypt) cannot read age-appropriate material by age 10 and thus suffer from learning poverty...Egypt’s results on the 2016 Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS) show an average reading score of 330 for grade 4 students, below the "low" international benchmark."
Ways to Sponsor
Arabic Book A Month is staring a literacy program to create, produce, and donate quality Arabic children's literature to underprivileged children who do not have access to books at home. We want to help every child build their own library, and the skills they need to grow and excel.
$30,000 Literacy Champion: 100 annual subscriptions
$20,000 Literacy Sponsor: 67 annual subscriptions
$10,000 Literacy Advocate: 33 annual subscriptions
By sponsoring a child's annual subscription, you guarantee them a steady inflow of 2 books per month for 12 months. Subscriptions help build excitement about learning and reading new books, hand-picked and appropriate for their age. You can't imagine the level of excitement of a child receiving a mystery package in the mail every month.
