Zoom workshop on How to Write a Picturebook for teachers in North Carolina

by Dina Elabd

This March, I was so happy to be approached by the North Carolina Go Global program, which is working hard with language teachers to help them learn even more skills to be better teachers. I taught Chinese and Arabic teachers how to write and select good picturebooks, hoping that this would help them teach their students the variety of subjects they must deliver. Indeed, a picturebook can be so useful in delivering a complex message in a beautiful and memorable way. We explored books that dealt with xenophobia, diverse cultures, and war.

I hope these teachers will take a little bit of this course with them moving forward!
